NightOwling is a comprehensive SaaS platform built to support night-shift and irregular-schedule workers through wellness resources, structured learning, and career development tools within a single, unified ecosystem.

Code Cobalt designed, built, and maintained the platform end to end. The solution combined AI-powered personalization, structured learning, and enterprise-ready infrastructure to support both individual users and organizations at scale.

To support long-term growth, Code Cobalt executed a major technical overhaul focused on performance optimization and infrastructure modernization, achieving a 27× speed improvement while significantly improving reliability, security, and scalability.

NightOwling required a sophisticated, scalable platform capable of delivering personalized AI-driven support, structured learning, and career resources to night-shift and irregular-schedule workers.

The initial implementation struggled under the weight of its complexity. Logged-in users experienced significantly slower page loads due to an overly complex frontend architecture and an excessive number of plugins, creating systemic performance bottlenecks.

Code Cobalt developed and iteratively enhanced a comprehensive custom SaaS platform with extensive custom architecture, integrations, and platform-level tooling.

To resolve performance and scalability issues, Code Cobalt conducted deep profiling and optimization across the entire stack. This included restructuring the frontend architecture, auditing and optimizing a large plugin ecosystem, modernizing infrastructure, and improving background processing and email reliability. These efforts resulted in a 27× performance improvement for authenticated users and a far more stable and scalable platform.

An advanced AI Copilot, powered by OpenAI, was built to serve as a personalized assistant across the platform. The Copilot could query content, access and update user data, deliver tailored recommendations, execute safe actions such as reminders and check-ins, and log events to continuously improve personalization over time.

The platform included fully personalized user dashboards, a custom Learning Management System supporting reading, quiz, and video lessons, an expert-led video library, and a comprehensive Journey and Action Plan system that guided users through habit formation and goal achievement.

For career development and engagement, Code Cobalt built a unified multi-source job search experience and a Community Hub featuring modern, mobile-responsive forums with threaded discussions and expert-led Q&A.

For enterprise customers, Code Cobalt implemented organization-level accounts with seat-based pricing, sub-user management, and white-labeling capabilities. Additional enterprise features included structured onboarding flows, a badges and achievements system, and a full affiliate and referral program.
